  SEARC ENTERTAINMENT “Free Nnamdi Kanu” – Rapper, Zoro drums support for IPOB leader Nigerian rapper, Zoro has urged the Federal government to release the arrested leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu  Kanu was arrested by a combined team of Nigerian and foreign security agents in a coordinated interception. The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, on Tuesday, at an emergency media briefing in his office confirmed the arrest of Kanu. According to him, Kanu was picked up on Sunday due to “the collaborative efforts of Nigerian intelligence and security services”. Following the development, Kanu has been detained by the Department of State Services, DSS. NAFDAC approves use of Moderna And Sputnik COVID-19 vaccines

  The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control has approved the use of  Moderna and Sputnik COVID-19 vaccines in Nigeria.     Director-General of NAFDAC, Professor Moji Adeyeye who made the announcement on Thursday July 15, said the vaccines were approved for emergency use.    Professor Adeyeye noted that though Sputnik vaccine which is produced in Russia has not yet been approved by the World Health Organisation, NAFDAC has carried out independent checks on the vaccine and found that the benefits outweigh the risks. The agency had earlier approved the Oxford-Astrazeneca and Pfizer jabs, also for emergency use.

Footballer, Arjen Robben retires for the second time at 37 after battling injuries

  Arjen Robben has announced his retirement from football after a 21-year playing career. The former Dutch international made over 300 appearances for Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, and won a league title in every country he played in. But, the 37-year-old has struggled with injuries after coming out of retirement in 2020 and rejoining boyhood club Groningen in 2020. He endured a seven-month absence last season after making his second debut. Robben also made 96 appearances for the Dutch national team and is the ninth-most capped Netherlands international. In a heartfelt statement, Robben said: “I have decided to stop my active football career. A year ago I announced my comeback as a FC Groningen player. I embarked on this adventure with great energy and enthusiasm.   “I only had to deal with physical setbacks quite quickly, which prevented me from playing matches for a very long time.   A  man identified as Habeeb Anda was killed during an attempt to rescue a pharmacist from kidnappers in Okene, Kogi State.   It was gathered that Abdulazeez Obajimoh, the Managing Director of AZECO Pharmaceutical Company at Ozuwaya  in Okene, was abducted by gunmen on Sunday afternoon, July 11.    The abduction of the pharmacist resulted in a gun duel between youths of the community and the gunmen, leading to the death of Anda and injuries to two others before the kidnappers escaped with their victim.
